Podere Guardia Grande: A Unique Wine and Landscape Experience in Sardinia

Podere Guardia Grande in Alghero is an excellent winery immersed in nature, offering fine wines, breathtaking views of Capo Caccia, and unforgettable tastings.

Located in the heart of an extraordinary landscape, Podere Guardia Grande is one of the must-see destinations for wine lovers and nature enthusiasts. This winery, nestled along the scenic northwestern coast of Sardinia, combines tradition, innovation, and breathtaking views stretching from Capo Caccia to Torre del Porticciolo.

Why Visit Podere Guardia Grande

Visiting Podere Guardia Grande means immersing yourself in a multisensory experience that goes far beyond just wine tasting. This winery is the perfect place for those who wish to:

  • Discover the native wines of Sardinia through a detailed enological journey.
  • Enjoy a stunning panorama with spectacular views of the coast and Mediterranean scrubland.
  • Experience authenticity in a structure that blends tradition and modernity.
  • Participate in guided tours and tastings to get an in-depth understanding of the production philosophy and history of this winemaking estate.

An Excellence of the Veronesi Industrial Group

Podere Guardia Grande is part of the Veronesi family-owned winery project, known for Oniverse, a multinational headquartered in Verona, renowned worldwide for brands ranging from fashion to shipbuilding. This industrial entity has invested in the estate with the goal of enhancing the distinctive features of the Alghero region and celebrating its winemaking traditions, all while fully respecting environmental sustainability.

Architecture Perfectly Integrated into the Landscape

The building draws inspiration from the rational forms already present in the surrounding agricultural land of Nurra, blending seamlessly with the landscape through a continuity between the ground and vertical surfaces, constructed using the earth’s colors: the persistent reddish-violet hue of the silty clay present locally echoes the architectural traditions of reclamation and the architectural landmarks of nearby Fertilia.

Spread over three main levels, the architecture engages with both the surrounding environment and the "interior," with the ground chosen as the home for the production activities. The only above-ground floor is the large hall: a glass box surrounded by a spacious porch with triangular pillar bases, acting as a mediator between the surrounding landscape and the production spaces. From here, the Bay of Porto Conte, Capo Caccia, Porticciolo, and Monte Doglia become the main interlocutors of the architecture and its users. This space, built on light and views, leads to the mezzanine floor: a horizontal surface that, through subtraction, creates a continuous visual relationship with the work areas on the lower floor.

Guided Tours and Tastings

One of the strengths of Podere Guardia Grande is its offering of guided tours and tastings. Guests have the opportunity to:

  • Visit the vineyards, discovering the characteristics of the soil and the grape varieties grown.
  • Enter the winemaking cellar to understand the production process, from grape to bottle.
  • Taste the estate’s wines, paired with typical Sardinian products for a complete food and wine experience.

The tastings include some of Podere's finest labels, such as Vermentino di Sardegna DOC, Cannonau di Sardegna, and the prized Cagnulari, a native wine with an intense and enveloping character.

A Spectacular View: From Capo Caccia to Torre del Porticciolo

One of the most fascinating aspects of Podere Guardia Grande is its unique panoramic location. The winery sits on a promontory offering an exceptional view of the northwestern Sardinian coast. From here, the gaze is captivated by the imposing profile of Capo Caccia, with its cliffs plunging into the sea, and the wild beauty of Torre del Porticciolo, one of the most picturesque beaches in the area. The sunset viewed from Podere Guardia Grande is an unforgettable experience: the colors of the sky reflect off the sea, creating a light and shade spectacle that makes every visit even more special.

An Unforgettable Experience

Podere Guardia Grande is not just a winery, but a true journey into the winemaking culture and landscape of Sardinia. The combination of excellent wines, refined architecture, and breathtaking views makes it the perfect destination for those looking to live an authentic and unforgettable experience.

If you are a lover of fine wine and unspoiled nature, Podere Guardia Grande is a must-visit on your trip to Sardinia. Book your visit and let yourself be enchanted by the uniqueness of this extraordinary place!
